One response to “Green World Windows

  1. Construction on my home was completed in November of 2012. Since completion, approx. 24 individual windows (supplied by Green World Windows of Ontario, CA) have failed. The failure is due to the poor quality of the seals and material used in the construction of the frame resulting in a separation of the inner and outer panes and the appearance of spots or streaks in the window that cannot be cleaned. During heavy rains, moisture has seeped past the window frame and in to the house itself. When failed widows are identified, it has taken an average of 50 days from the time that Green World is contacted to the time that the window is replaced. It once took over 100 days in 2013 to get two windows replaced.

Additionally the factory default weather stripping was sub-par resulting in an audible whistling noise emanating from several windows while the window was in the closed and locked position. Green World made several visits to my home but failed to take any corrective action until the builder of my home paid more than $750 to Green World to install upgraded weather stripping. This evolution required the removal of every moveable window pane (23) and the stripping and gluing of new weather stripping on to the panel. This resulted in every window having glue smears and finger prints inside and out. Green World’s technician refused to clean the windows without receiving a cash payment of $50.

Currently, my home has 13 failed windows. Green World Windows was notified on or about 17 July, 2015 regarding this issue. A technician showed up in early August to conduct a survey and verify the windows needing replacement. This technician personally saw each window, including the six windows that were upstairs. The technician did not return until August 28th. Upon his return he made several claims:
    a) One window was broken in transit and would have to be reordered.
    b) That despite his earlier survey visit, he did not know that it was a two story house and did not bring a ladder.
    c) That because we have planation shutters installed, company policy prevents him from replacing or servicing those windows, ignoring the fact that his company had serviced every single window in the house the year prior.
I badgered technician into replacing three failed windows on the first floor in an effort to make some kind of progress. These windows were installed without the upgraded weather stripping because the tech could not obtain authorization to add it while he was here. As such, the whistling noise has returned. Furthermore, the tech broke the glass of one window while removing it and then refused to dispose of the broken glass shards left outside.

At present Green World Windows is essentially refusing to honor their lifetime warranty. They have been extremely unwilling to work with me on an acceptable date to replacing the remaining failed windows. On September 11th, Green World Windows scheduled an appointment for the 14th. On the 13th Green World Windows contacted me to say that they had overbooked and would not be able to complete my house. I explained that I had taken leave from work (US Navy) and that I could not arbitrarily take another day off at Green World Windows’ whim. Their customer service promised that a decision maker or management would call back, and then failed to do so. I eventually reached a manager who agreed to send someone armed with a ladder and weather stripping in accordance with the original appointment. Not surprisingly, Green World Windows called me the morning of the 15th to cancel the appointment and unilaterally reschedule it for the 22nd despite being told that I could not support that day. Do not do business with this company if you value your time, money, and sanity.
