Milgard has announced that their use of recycled vinyl windows qualify for the LEEDS program. Milgard Vinyl Windows contain 8%‐10% pre‐consumer RECYCLED content of vinyl. Vinyl is approximately 35% of the weight of the average window and 31% of the weight of the average door.
Most vinyl manufacturers use some sort of recycled vinyl these days. Using a little actually makes the frames stronger and they last longer. Remember no vinyl window can not be 100% pure vinyl or it would turn yellow and become brittle. Vinyl Windows must be made with titanium dioxide (which keeps vinyl white) and tin and other minerals to help make the frames strong.
If a window salesman tell you their windows are 100% pure they don’t know what they’re talking about.
Read the window manufacturer warranty and its fine print. If labor is not lifetime find out how much it will be if you have a problem.
